    Sous Chef


    The Sous Chef position is responsible for helping Otterbein manage the ala-carte restaurant, The Great Wave Cafe.  The position will manage all daily operations, including overall direction of kitchen staff.  The position requires an individual who will carry out responsibilities in accordance with the organizational policies, procedures, and applicable laws.


    • Excellent customer service is a must!!
    • Oversees the activities of the kitchen staff and monitors all food production and presentation.
    • Monitors and evaluates staff performance.
    • Trains and assists staff in proper procedures and polices.
    • Ensure opening and closing procedures are completed.
    • Menu development.
    • Cost control and budget.
    • Recipe development.
    • Scheduling.
    • Strong leadership skills.
    • A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.
    • Ordering and inventory.
    • Requires an understanding of federal, state and local food and safety regulations.


    Education:  A degree in Culinary science or related certificate would be a plus.

    Licensure:  ServSafe certification.

    Experience:  2 - 5 years experience in related position.

    Qualifications:  Understand the use and maintenance of various kitchen equipment.  Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Outlook, and Excel.  Excellent record of kitchen and staff management.
