    Responsibilities

    Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

    1. Scrape dirty trays and dishes and the loading and unloading of the dish machine.
    2. Hand wash pots and pans, and other designated items.
    3. Maintain the kitchen facilities in a sanitary manner including floors, walls, all equipment, and utensils.
    4. Safely handles a variety of chemicals and educates employees about the same.
    5. Assists in kitchen where needed.
    6. Ensures that a clean and safe environment is maintained.
    7. Communicates and cooperates with dietary personnel and other departments.
    8. Maintains resident rights and confidentiality.
    9. Interacts positively with residents, family members, personnel, and visitors under a variety of conditions and circumstances.
    10. Follows Universal precautions and Infection Control techniques.

    Qualifications

    Education: High School Diploma or GED preferred.

    Licensure/Certification: None Applicable.

    Experience: 0-2 year’s food service experience in a long term care or similar setting preferred.

    Knowledge/Aptitude:

    1. Must be able to cope with mental and emotional stress related to working with persons who are ill, disabled, elderly, and/or emotionally upset.
    2. Must be able to communicate in English.
    3. Must be detail oriented and have excellent literacy and writing, documentation, communication, and interpersonal abilities.
    4. Must have knowledge of methods and procedures, principles of sanitation, and principles of safe food handling (i.e. min & max temperatures of food).
    5. Must have knowledge of the care and use of food service equipment and kitchen equipment.
    6. Must have the ability to work fast and efficiently in order to maintain timelines for dishwashing position.
